Volunteer at work parties

Everyone is welcome to our weekly work parties during academic quarters. Work parties for Winter Quarter are Sundays from 1-3pm on the main farm and Wednesday mornings, 9-11am to work in the Forest Garden. You don't have to know or bring anything to join us. Meet in the Outdoor Classroom to start.No previous experience required! Tools, background, and instructions provided in a friendly skill-sharing environment.

Creating Contours

This outside, hands-on event will cover soil conservation, water banking, and resilient design as we start planning the recontouring of our vegetable production rows in the Outback. Led by earthworks expert Brian Kerkvliet from local Inspiration Farm.

Pruning Fruit Trees

WWU Alumnus and former Outback Coordinator Edward Johnson will discuss and demonstrate the art of fruit tree pruning. This hands-on workshop is free, and all tools are provided. Warm clothes, closed-toed shoes or boots, and masks are required at all times.

Workshops

Outback student Coordinators plan and host several events each quarter that are free and open to all. Topics range from native plant foraging to permaculture design to eating well on a budget. Have a request or an idea for a workshop? Let us know!
