Woodring Fairhaven Scholarship
Offered in memory of Dr. Paul Woodring, long-time educator at Western Washington University, who conceived of the "Fairhaven Plan--a small experimental college within the college" in 1966. The award is intended for Fairhaven students of exceptional talent who, in the judgment of faculty members who know them, seem most likely to make substantial contributions to mankind as a result of their liberal education. Scholarship awards are approximately $1,000 /year.
Application Requirements
1. Write a 500-750 word essay in which you explain to the committee your educational background, your academic goals and your eligibility for the scholarship. Describe any relevant personal experiences and achievements that relate to the spirit and purpose of the scholarship that might help the committee evaluate your application.

2. Letter of Recommendation: Copy and send this link to the people writing your letters of recommendation. https://fairhaven.wwu.edu/form/-fairhaven-college-letter-of-rec.
A single letter of recommendation can be used for multiple scholarship applications. Letters of recommendation can be written by faculty or community members. However, your letter of recommendation would be significantly stronger if your faculty or community member could address your skills and talents as they pertain to the specific scholarship.

3. Copy of unofficial transcripts.
