Course Description

“The conflict between Israel and Palestine is one of the most highly publicized and bitterly contested in history” (Oxford University Press).

Israel’s occupation of Palestine is one of the most fateful moral and political issues of our times. In this course, we will write across the disciplines to better understand one of the most complex and multi-dimensional ethno-national conflicts in the world. You do not have to know anything about Palestine or Israel to succeed in this course. You are invited to bring your own questions and passion about the world – for example, about dance, ecology, child development, psychology, religion, anthropology, film studies, politics or cultural studies – to reflect on Israel-Palestine and vice versa. There is a vast interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary literature on this region, allowing you to research and write about almost any topic or subject you like in the context and shadow of the occupation and conflict.
