Course Description

Our understanding about the brain has undergone an explosion with the development of sophisticated neuroimaging technologies. This knowledge brings as many questions as it does intriguing answers! Some questions we may cover in our explorations are: What happens in our brain as we go through our daily lives? How does our brain change as we grow? How do brains differ from one another? What effect does stress or trauma have on our brain? How does our brain heal itself and adapt to change? Students who have studied brain and behavior in the psychology department are not eligible for this course. Students can expect to learn through reading / media observations, discussions and independent research. Interactive learning strategies using brain-based learning methodologies are employed to promote active student involvement. Demonstrations of learning include written or video reflections, discussion board sharing, and student-selected research/reporting on a related topic.
