Fairhaven Opportunity Scholarship for BIPOC Leadership (renewable)

Description
The BIPOC Leadership scholarship is a renewable $1000 annual award given to one newly admitted or currently enrolled Fairhaven student who has demonstrated leadership relevant to BIPOC issues.

Both “Leadership” and “BIPOC Issues” are broad concepts, and, as such, defining these constructs as well as demonstrating your ability to lead in this domain is central to your application.
 
 
Application Requirements
1. Write and submit an essay in which you explain to the committee i) your understanding and working definition of Leadership, ii) your understanding of relevant BIPOC issues, and iii) how you demonstrate your leadership within BIPOC issues and/or your leadership to facilitate awareness of or positive change relevant to BIPOC issues.

Guidelines for Essay: Your essay should be between 500-750 words in length, double-spaced, using 12 point-font, and with 1-inch margins.

2. Write and submit a second essay in which you briefly explain how this award will impact your educational experience at Fairhaven and/or Western Washington University, generally.

Guidelines for Second Essay: Your second essay should define BIPOC Issues and be 250 words maximum, double-spaced, using 12 point-font, and with 1-inch margins.

*Please make sure your letter writer for this application can speak to your (potential) leadership abilities and your capacity to lead while maintaining good academic standing.
