Emergency Funding
WWU Fairhaven Emergency Scholarship
The purpose of the Fairhaven Emergency Scholarship is to provide monetary relief to students for unexpected circumstances that significantly interfere with their ability to attend or complete college. Funds are limited each year ($1000 per student, per year) and applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis as they are received. Examples of unexpected circumstances are: emergency medical bills, unemployment, eviction, etc. Funding is intended to address an expense to support enrollment, persistence, and completion and is reserved for students who experience unexpected expenses only. Requests are not generally granted for regular, ongoing expenses such as rent & utility bills or tuition & fees.
To apply, send a brief (1-2 paragraph) letter explaining the nature of the emergency situation and what steps have been taken to resolve it to Tori.Talkington@wwu.edu. You can keep this statement brief and do not need to disclose confidential information.
The request for emergency assistance will be reviewed and a decision may take up to 5 full business days from the submission date. The Fairhaven Operations Manager will communicate the results of the decision and process the award.
Note: Scholarships may impact your current financial aid package, and we encourage you to meet with WWU's Financial Aid office if you receive this scholarship and are on financial aid.
