Description
This is a variable credit course (2 - 4 credits) that requires a course override. Please see instructions for registering posted after the course description.
This directed Independent Study Project (ISP) workshop provides a hub for students working on ISPs with Prof. Mark Miyake. The ISP workshop is especially valuable for students working in areas such as arts management, grant-writing, community arts, and ethnography, but is open to all students who will benefit from faculty and community advising on your ISP projects.
The workshop will meet once a week for 1hr 50 m and is for variable credits (2cr-4cr): 2-credit students commit to an additional 4 hr per week (pw) of outside work; 3-credit students to an additional 7 hr pw of outside work; and 4-credit students plan an additional 10 hr pw outside of class.
To apply to join the ISP Hub, please submit a FAIR 300 proposal to Mark Miyake through the ISP portal during winter registration (Nov. 4 – Jan 2):
- Please clearly stipulate in your proposal that you wish to join the ISP Hub and specify how many credits you wish to take (2-4 credits).
- After Mark approves your proposal, Fairhaven will provide you with the registration override & CRN.
- When registering you must sign-up for your correct credit load (2, 3, or 4, see notes below).
Variable Credit Registration
- Once you receive the CRN, you will register for the course as normal in the Web4U registration system. This registration will automatically give you 2 credits for FAIR 300A.
- If you want to take FAIR 300A for more than 2 credits, you will need to adjust the credit amount.
- Go back to the Registration menu, navigate to Schedule and Options, then select the credit hours to be allowed to update this.
- If you are on financial aid, please take extra care to ensure you are registered for the correct amount of credits as registering for the wrong amount could affect your financial aid.
- Email herolde@wwu.edu with any registration questions.
