Description

This class will cover a wide range of approaches to digital video creation. Students will have the opportunity to explore multiple methods of media capture (DSLR, drone, GoPro, field recorders, lavalier mics etc.), as well as traditional and experimental post-production techniques using Adobe Premiere. We will use time in and outside of class to develop our own creative approaches to dream sequences, chase scenes, still lifes and more.

We will also touch on video production techniques beyond the camera and interrogate the function of the moving image when paired with contemporary tools such as generative AI and game engines.

Fundamental to all our work will be the concept of “play”. Rather than trying to imitate content we’ve already encountered, we will use play and its elements as a framework as we attempt to discover the unexpected in our own digital video productions.

We have a lot of to cover, and since we will only be meeting once a week, in class attendance will be critical!
