Description

This is a variable credit course (2 - 5 credits). Please see instructions for registering posted after the course description.

This directed Independent Study Project (ISP) workshop provides a hub for students working on ISPs. Students will meet each week of the quarter for two hours to engage in a creative and supportive peer community and to receive relevant guidance from the instructor.

Independent Study Projects (ISPs) are projects or internships developed by students, in partnership with faculty members, to add valuable content to their college paths. An ISP does not replace existing curriculum but rather builds on content not currently offered directly to students through scheduled coursework. The variable-credit ISP Hub is designed to foster a shared learning community and comparable quality projects among Fairhaven students.

The ISP hub is open to all students who will benefit from faculty and community advising on your ISP projects. This ISP hub is especially suited to students working in ethnographic fieldwork, non-profit management, community organizing, arts management, the creative arts, videography, language acquisition, global travel, research ethics, public policy, political economy, and film studies.

Meeting content will vary throughout the quarter depending on student project progress and specific project-related instruction demands but will always revolve around individual project support and project critique. Through these weekly meetings we hope to foster a sense of shared community and a spirit of collaboration. While each student is ultimately responsible for the completion of their own project(s), collaboration and assistance are greatly encouraged.

  • If you want to take this course for more than 2 credits, you will need to adjust the credit amount.
    • Go back to the Registration menu, navigate to Schedule and Options, then select the credit hours to be allowed to update this.
    • If you are on financial aid, please take extra care to ensure you are registered for the correct amount of credits as registering for the wrong amount could affect your financial aid.
