Description
This is a variable credit course (2 - 5 credits). Please see instructions for registering posted after the course description.
The Recording Studio Practicum provides an opportunity for students to work independently on large-scale recording projects utilizing Fairhaven’s professional recording facilities, while receiving the benefits of a dedicated peer group and faculty mentorship. In this variable credit course students will gain valuable hands-on experience in the recording studio through the completion of self-directed and self-designed projects. This class is intended to serve as a way for advanced audio production students with demonstrable studio competency to complete studio-related projects that go beyond the scope of what might be accomplished in other courses.
Students will meet each week of the quarter for two hours to engage in a creative and supportive peer community and to receive relevant instruction/guidance from the practicum instructor. Meeting content will vary throughout the quarter depending on student project progress and specific project-related instruction demands, but will always revolve around individual project support, project critique, or technical demonstrations. Through these weekly meetings we hope to foster a sense of shared community and a spirit of collaboration. While each student is ultimately responsible for the completion of their own project(s), collaboration and assistance are greatly encouraged.
Students enrolling in this course should already have a studio recording related project lined up prior to the start of the quarter.
