Course Description

Using a hands-on, project-based approach, students in this course will learn the fundamentals of narrative filmmaking.  This is a practical class aimed at both beginners and those with more experience.  Class work and exercises will introduce students to script, camera, lighting, sound, and editing practices.  In addition to the exercises, each student will write and produce a short (1-4 minute) film of their own, being responsible for finding locations, casting actors, reserving equipment, and scheduling their (1-2 day) shoots.  In addition, students will be required to assist classmates as crew.  Equipment including cameras, lights, and sound gear will be made available through ATUS.
