Course Description
Be a music journalist or cultural critic (or both)! In this hands-on course, we will work as music and arts journalists as the writers and editors of our own indie zine.
We’ll read contemporary published works in music and arts journalism and cultural criticism, then write our own such works (such as live concert and album reviews; a review of an art show, film, play, game, or television series; a magazine-style feature about an artist in a genre of your own interest) based on both assigned events or works or artists, and those of students' own choice. We will read and critique each other's work in workshop. And we will hone our craft, and develop our understanding of the process of analysis and critique and editing. And we will publish our own zine!
